US Internet Bingo Market May Open Soon

In 2006 many American internet bingo fans found themselves effectively shut out of the internet bingo market with the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) which was passed by the US congress in 2006. The sordid details behind the passage of this unpopular piece of legislation have been the subject of many news reports and opinion columns. Essentially the act prohibited banks and financial institutions from processing transactions related to online gaming including internet bingo. Despite the ban many Americans found ways to play their favorite games.

Now in 2009 the US finds itself in a serious financial crisis. US deficits are at record levels and legislators are looking for new sources of revenues. One of these legislators, Senator Ron Wyden a Democrat from Oregon has introduced the idea of using Senator Barney Frank’s Internet Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act to help fund US health care reform. Should this idea be adopted it will provide the internet bingo industry with millions of potential players.

In preparation for the inevitable legalization of online gaming gambling giants Harrah’s and Caesars are in the process of negotiating a deal with gaming software provider 888’s B2B division known as Dragonfish. 888 already provides software for the well known internet bingo site 888Ladies. Dragonfish will also provide customer support and epayments.
Many UK based internet bingo sites are expected to enter the lucrative American internet bingo market. The UK is at present the largest online bingo market and UK based internet bingo providers are entering new European markets. Internet bingo has been particularly successful in Spain and Sweden.

While the legalization of internet gaming is not a high priority for US legislators at the present time most gaming experts believe that it is only a matter of time before the US decriminalizes internet gaming including bingo.

American players are expected to enter the internet bingo market soon and bingo sites are ready with spectacular bingo bonuses. Legislation is pending which would allow Americans to gamble online. The bingo industry is ready for the influx of new players. A typical bingo deposit bonus can easily be as high as 300% effectively tripling the player’s deposit. In addition many sites are offering players a free play option and free bingo bonuses of various types.
