E wallet Paypal has announced they will resume fund transfers to and from gambling sites including internet bingo. Paypal was originally the e wallet for most online gambling transactions and left the lucrative gambling market when it was purchased by Ebay. Ebay attributed their decision to an “uncertain regulatory environment surrounding online gaming.” At the time the US House of Representatives was reviewing anti online gambling legislation and many other payment providers also exited the gaming market.

The exit of so many online payment providers led to the rise of Neteller. Eventually the US congress passed the draconian Online Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 and the US Justice Department went after Neteller with a vengeance. Despite their persecution by US authorities Neteller continues to process gaming transactions in countries where online gambling is still legal. In an act of astounding hubris US authorities arrested Neteller executives for activities that are perfectly in the jurisdictions where they reside. The executives settled with the Justice Department for millions and many saw the settlement as little more than extortion. It would appear that Paypal is following the lead of Neteller.

When Paypal and Neteller exited the gaming market many internet bingo players in the US and Europe had to scramble to find alternative payment providers. Paypal and Neteller were widely seen by internet bingo players as safe and secure. Both had stellar reputations in the online gaming world. Despite regulations Americans continue to play internet bingo in defiance of draconian and puritanical online gaming laws.

Legislation to tax and regulate is pending in the US congress and the internet bingo industry is gearing up to attract American players. Bingo websites are offering many perks and free bingo bonuses.
