Internet Bingo TV Ads Big Business in the UK
Posted on August 13th, 2009
The UK easily has one of the largest internet bingo markets in the world. It has been estimated that the UK market is served more than 250 internet bingo websites. Competition between internet bingo websites is keen and many of the larger bingo providers have taken to television advertising to attract new players. Since a clear majority of internet bingo players are female it should come as no surprise that many internet bingo sites are advertising on daytime television shows.
In 2008 the internet bingo industry spent £7 million pounds on mass media advertising. According to Neilsens the exact amount spent on television advertising was £7,106,284. The biggest spender was internet bingo provider Foxy Bingo who spent £2.25 million pounds on television ads. Their ads typically feature their now well known purple suited fox.
Many other internet bingo providers have made sponsorship deals with various daytime television programs. The popular Jeremy Kyle show has been sponsored by Foxy Bingo, Cheeky Bingo and Think Bingo. Crown Bingo has made a deal to sponsor ITV3’s entire daytime programming schedule. Some question the efficacy of the ads and whether they are a good investment for the internet bingo industry.
Many internet bingo providers are ramping up site improvements in conjunction with the colorful ads. Many are adding new games, offering free bingo for cash, better bingo bonuses, improved software, and are adding flashy graphics in an attempt to garner new players. Many are adding features designed to maintain player loyalty and are providing better promotions and bingo bonuses.
Most internet bingo websites offer players a bingo deposit bonus and a bingo sign up bonus. Many of these bonuses are generous and several sites now offer special games with unique bingo bonuses. For these special games players are usually emailed a bingo bonus code that can be used for that specific game. Competition between sites is clearly benefiting players.
American viewers would be shocked to see so many internet bingo ads on television.
American internet bingo players have been subject to the puritanical and unpopular Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 which all but prohibits the internet gaming industry from advertising anywhere in the country. Because of this unpopular even search engine giant Google prohibited and kind of gaming ads including those for internet bingo. With a new administration in place more sympathetic towards internet gaming it is only a matter of time before Americans will be able to view these sometimes colorful television ads.
