Worker Sacked For Rigging Bingo Game

Recent news reports from Sunderland revealed details of a £10,000 bingo ($29,600 USD) game fixing scam. According to police two employees at the Gala bingo club in Pallion Sunderland have been suspended pending an investigation into the alleged game fixing. Management at the club became suspicious when a woman who is believed to be the bingo caller’s girlfriend called bingo and won the £10,000 jackpot.

Most in the bingo industry including the internet bingo industry have long believed that rigging a bingo game is impossible because of the sophistication of the random number generators used. It is believed that a code was inserted into the random number generator which allowed the caller to generate a set of numbers instead of the usual randomly generated bingo numbers.

The big win generated enough suspicion for an investigation to be opened. After an internal investigation Gala bingo reported the incident to the UK Gaming Commission. A spokesperson for Gala stated, “An incident was brought to the attention of the manager of the Gala Bingo club in Sunderland. The club immediately carried out an investigation into this. “As a result, one member of staff has been dismissed. The other member of staff is going through a disciplinary process.” The spokesperson also stated that the money has been returned to the prize board.
